Great Attitude Leads to Pleasant Surgical Experience
Friday, May 2nd, 2008Last week, I had a patient who made the whole surgery experience better for herself. She did her research before surgery and knew what she wanted. She had everything organized for her postoperative care; medications, ice packs, time off work and arranged help with the kids. On the surgical day, she was calm, smiling and thinking positive. She had the surgery(which went well!), and woke up happy. I called her that evening and she was fine, minimal pain and eating.
I see this positive attitude in many patients. It does make a tremendous difference in the whole surgical experience. She was calm, knew what to expect, understood there would be pain and was prepared. She also understood that there may be some unexpected things as well. I know she will do well and recover quickly.
