Its been a hot and sunny summer. So what’s new in plastic surgery??
Well, Dysport has been out for a while now, the new Botox competitor, but still not a clear advantage over Botox. Botox is still the winner for now.
Injectables such as Radiesse, Restylane and Juvederm have found their niche for patients and are well established.
Breast surgery, augmentation and implants, not much new to report. Still working on fat transfers, but the amount of augmentation is still small about 275 ccs or so, a B cup is the largest size.
Still, rhinoplasty, facelifts and tummy tucks and liposuction have been popular over the summer. Gynecomastia correction as well. Everyone trying to get procedures done before school and work.
As always, call 215 829 6900 if questions or research at www.dradrianlo.com

The meeting was held in Toronto Canada, a very beautifull City. I walked the exhibit floor and see alot of new things being developed for Plastic Sugery. It was interesting to see different techniques and equipment that is on the market for liposuction.

With the holidays, this is a busy time for plastic surgery as patients have more time off during the holidays for surgery and healing.
I am now performing transaxillary breast augmentation with silicone implants up to 550 cc which is a C cup.
I am now offering labiaplasty as well, for reduction of large or asymetric labia. Our website www.dradrianlo.com will soon have new page about this plastic surgery procedure.
Many patients have taken advantage of our 3D Imaging machine which allows patients to preview what they may look like after rhinoplasty or breast augmentation. It has been really valuable to give patients confidence in their new look after plastic surgery.

As a part of the breast augmentation consulatation we use the Vectra 3D imaging system. We like to show patients that there will be upper fullness due to the peck muscle being lifted. Women often think of the lower fullness and don’t realize there is fullness between the collar bone and nipple. We show them on the Vectra what that would look like so they understand the changes that will occur in their breast and appearance.

We provide patients with bras for post operative recovery. It is often thought that the number in the size changes but that is not the case. The number stays the same. It is the cup size that changes. For example, a women who is 36B has surgery she may be a 36D after surgery.

When considering plastic surgery, whether is is breast surgery or body contouring procedures, the most common questions, naturally, is how long is the recovery time. With today’s plastic surgery techniques and modern anesthesia, most patients are back to work in 1 week. Many patients, after breast augmentation surgery are able to return to work in 3- 5 days. Liposuction recovery may also be as quick as 3-5 days depending on how extensive the areas that are treated. Tummy tuck patients are back to work in 7- 10 days. When I say “back to work”, I mean you are not 100% healed, maybe 80%and that you have a “desk job” that does not require heavy lifting or repetitive motions. Rhinoplasty or nose jobs return to work in 1 week because that is when the nasal splint is removed and most of the bruising and swelling have gone away. Exercise is started whenever you feel able, usually around 2-3 weeks. Back to 100% takes about 3 weeks. You may be out in the sun and on the beach in 2-3 weeks. So if you have surgery now, you will still be back on the beach and enjoy the summer! For more information go to .

Good news. I now have available in my office, the latest technology, a 3D Body Imaging Machine. It takes a picture and can simulate surgery in 3 dimensions. The machine is ideal for breast augmentation with implants. It will show you what you could potentially look like with different size and shaped breast implants.
The machine is also ideal for rhinoplasty to simulate what your nose might look like after surgery. Chin augmentation works well with this new technology.
To see this exciting new 3D technology, just call 215 829 6900 for a free consultation or for more information go to .

Now that spring is already the corner, many patients are considering plastic surgery. Breast enhancement procedures such as breast augmentation with saline or silicone implants, breast lift are very popular at this time. Other contouring procedures such as liposuction and tummy tuck, eyelid, rhinoplasty, liposuction of the chest or gynecomastia correction are very common at this time. A common question is “How long before I am ready for the beach?”. The average time is 3-4 weeks. All the bruising, swelling should be 90% gone and everything should be soft and settling in. The feeling should be coming back. Strenuous exercise is started at 3-4 weeks. You can be in the sun at about 3 weeks with sunblock. Go to for more information about specific procedures and healing time.

“New and improved, better than before, no pain, no healing required, no down time, return to work the next day, instant results, no anesthesia required can be done under local anesthesia, no complications, total correction and lasts forever” etc.
When most of us hear these terms in advertising and marketing, almost all of us view it with a healthy degree of skepticism. In other words, we don’t believe it. However, when it comes to plastic surgery, alot of patients are not very sensible and believe in these so called new and better procedures. After several years and many unhappy patients, Thread Lifts do not work and the company that made the threads went out of business. I never did any Thread Lift operations.
No patient should ever try a plastic surgery procedure that has not been around for at least 1 year or more. You know when a procedure works when reputable and mainstream plastic surgeons do the procedure. Whether you are considering a facelift, rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, liposuction or other plastic surgery, you need to be an informed patient and use your common sense.
I had a patient ask me the other day if I performed an noninvasive rhinoplasty or nose job with no cuts or anesthesia. If there are no cuts and anesthesia, how is any plastic surgeon able to reshape your nose? Again, one needs to use some common sense.
